Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

  • Salem Public Library 585 Liberty Street Southeast Salem, OR, 97301 United States (map)

Our MLK Day program this year will be held virtually and introduced by Dr. Reginald Richardson, President of Salem-Keizer NAACP with Keynote speaker, Dr. Irvin Brown, Education Committee Chair of Salem-Keizer NAACP.

This year's theme is the Urgency of Creating the Beloved Community. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. first introduced the concept during his 1957 Birth Of A Nation speech. The beloved community is a community in which everyone is cared for absent of poverty, hunger, and hate.
