Leadership

Consider yourself invited!
We have one of the largest and most active units in Oregon, and many hands make light work. As you review the committee positions below, note that vacant seats are in need of your energy and expertise. Also, each chairperson welcomes members to support the work of the respective committees. Email us or attend an upcoming membership meeting for more information.

President

Dr. Richardson presides over the Unit/Branch and chairs the Executive Committee/Board.

Vice President

Currently vacant. This role serves as the second in command to the president with responsibilities of leading the strategic plan process of the organization. 

Secretary

Tori records minutes, maintains  memberships and provides reports to the local chapter, State Area Conference and national NAACP.

Treasurer

Shelly is the chief financial officer, depositing all monies received by the Unit and submits reports to the Unit and Executive Committee.

Comms. Chair

As the Communications Chair, Casey promotes visibility of the NAACP, maintains this website, and works with the local media to raise awareness of the Unit's programs, activities, functions, and objectives.

 Education Chair

Dr. Brown coordinates our scholarship program, and hosts various events throughout the year to improve achievement and opportunities for students of color.

Membership & Fundraising

Helen develops and implement creative ideas to increase NAACP membership and coordinates fundraising activities throughout the year, including the Freedom Fund.

Legal Redress

Kristi & Don collect and respond to legal redress matters. See our Legal Redress tab for necessary forms.

RACE RELATIONS

Elder Oni enlists community organizations to support the struggle for equality and full civil rights; and provide resource assistance for education and social action activities, associated with the improvement of race relations.

Policing & Criminal Justice

Julianne advocates for smarter, results-based criminal justice policies to keep our communities safe, including treatment for addiction & mental health, judicial discretion in sentencing, & an end to racial disparities at all levels of the system.

Political Action

Currently Vacant. This role seeks o increase registration and voting and work for the enactment of municipal, state and federal legislation designed to improve the educational, political and economic status of minority groups. The Committee is nonpartisan and shall not endorse candidates.

YOUTH CHAPTER

Currently Vacant. This role recruits and mobilizes young people to work for racial justice and helps connect young people to opportunities such as our African-American Youth Leadership Conference.

Vision Statement:
The vision of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race.
